During the first week of August 2016, Na Wetti Magazine having
one of its preliminary objectives in promoting socially cohesive societies and
its partners organized a weeklong series of cultural encouragement activities. These
included social awareness caravans and holidays showbiz incentives to harness
productive youthful time after the academic year long studies.
The primary initiative targeted the Miss North West
Organizing Committee (COMINO) in making the northwest girl child a development
paradigm that regroups socioeconomic operators as well as other cultural
development partners towards fostering human centered development purposes
within the region. The event was meant to celebrate intelligence and beauty in
the girls and young men of the northwest region in Cameroon. Thus, on the 5th
of August 2016, with a wide range of other development and social awareness
partners, 17 selected young models (13girls and 5boys) in the region competed
and finally a Miss was chosen.
It’s understood that during the holidays, youths get involve
in very unprofitable and delinquent activities, the COMINO Miss and Mistercompetition 2016, now stands as another occupational opportunity for these
youths to be actively involved in education exchanges and social awareness
against societal ills such as HIV/AIDS, prostitution, teenage pregnancies,
sexual violence and other radical youthful occurrences.
The secondary initiative was linked to the earlier organized
Na Wetti Awards on the 20th of May 2016. The award which was won by
the Artist name Prizzy West as the most promising upcoming artists in the
region also had very remarkable talents from other contestants and presenters.
It was from the noticed talent displays that the Na Wetti management team chose
a number of interesting songs and compiled a mix-tape CD. On the 6th
of August 2016, this Mixtape CD was then officially released with all the
present nawetti artists showcasing their talents through an organized free show
at the Na Wetti head office (Na Wetti Zone).
Currently,
the Na Wetti Artists featured in the Mixtape album are undergoing a promotional
tour in the city and giving out the mixtape CDs…Watch out for they maybe soon
arrive in your area unannounced...
